Art exhibition: The Blossoming Branch, works in paper by Cecilia Afonso Esteves +COLLECTIVE45.
From Saturday 13 May to Saturday 24 June.

“These delicate and minimalist works in paper by Cecilia Afonso Esteves create what can only be described as visual poetry. Her cut-outs of flowers, branches, fruit and the night sky float on the paper with the simplicity of haikus. The images are reduced to their essence, condensed into the perfect expression of themselves. They are works to meditate upon, to transport us to another place, alone in nature and free from the complications of daily life. They are, quite simply, beautiful.”
The Blossoming Branch presents 18 collages in paper, mostly belonging to the published books Bajo el cerezo en flor, Plantas comunes y Corrientes and Poemas de las madres. Cecilia Afonso Esteves was born in Buenos Aires in 1977. She graduated from the Prilidiano Pueyrredón National Fine Art School, with specialization in printmaking. She is an artist and illustrator. She has exhibited with Galería Mar Dulce since 2011 and The Blossoming Branch is her second solo exhibition in the gallery, following on from The Wind in the Branches in 2014. She lives and works in La Cumbre, Cordoba.
Galería Mar Dulce specialises in small and medium format artwork in painting, drawing, print, photography, artists’ books and objects, produced by classic and contemporary Argentine artists. To accompany The Blossoming Branch we present +COLLECTIVE45, a specially curated selection of works by Catalina Scoppa, Roberta Di Paolo, Raoul Veroni, Santiago Franciulli, Susana Di Pietro, Sofía Wiñazki, Consuelo Vidal, María Elina, Gisela Faure and Maite Perez Cobo, amongst others.
Venue: Galería Mar Dulce, Uriarte 1490, Palermo Soho, Buenos Aires
Opening Event: Saturday 13 May, 4-8pm
Normal Opening Hours: Tuesday to Saturday 3-8pm
